HISTORY
Clowater’s Plumbing & Heating started in 1944 when Ernest Wesley Clowater set out on his son’s bicycle on a plumbing service call.
He upgraded a few years later to the family car and in 1964 was joined by his three sons Donald, Gordon and Wesley Clowater.
They created E.W. Clowater & Sons Ltd.
Many things have changed at Clowater’s over the years; during times when a burger was 5¢, a boiler and toilet installation were a little cheaper too at $248.76!
E.W. Clowater’s & Sons worked out of their old family home until 1986 when it was destroyed by a fire that began at 9am in the morning. Not one to accept defeat, by 2pm the phones for Clowater’s were up and running in Wesley’s home.
Without the help of the plumbing community in Fredericton; notably Fred Beairsto of Beairsto’s Plumbing and Reg Leachman & Early Scott of Leachman’s Plumbing &
Heating providing us with supplies and helping with service calls, Clowater’s would not have been able to build back bigger and better.
Clowater’s remained at 288 Union St Main St serving the people of Fredericton and of central New Brunswick until 1996 when they moved to Lower St. Mary’s for more space and accessibility.
Clowater’s Plumbing & Heating was awarded the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence award for small business in 1990.
Clowater’s is a family owned business and has prided itself on good old fashion customer service, with many of our customers using our services for the past 60 years. We have third generation customers calling for plumbing, heating, air conditioning or electrical service and they are being served by third generation Clowater’s!
